It's part of the creeping parochialism of our community. Loyalty today is to a progressively smaller community, rather than Torah Jewry or Klal Yisroel. It's to my yeshiva, my chassidus, my neighborhood, my shul, shtible or Bais Medrash. And our 'leaders, such as they are', are similarly parochial. And for some reason, that's doesn't seem to be limited to <i>askonim</i>. The high price of growth and success? Interesting perspective. It’s part of the creeping parochialism of our community.
